Donald Schenkel’s gradual color transitions find subtle expression through oil paint on diverse materials such as: Canvas, Paper, Wood, Glass, and Steel. This results in smoothness for both colors and gradients. As it appears natural to the eye, the viewer is gently carried away into a distant dimension. These colors in transition fade away into either light or darkness; a velvet darkness in which one can feel at home, much like the protection of a cocoon. This all happens at that point where the emphasis on matter shifts to that on the mind. Schenkel lives and works in Rotterdam.
